An Awkward Meal At Mix — Thanks For Being Good Sports
on
I have to admit, being featured in The New York Times is pretty cool. Having them remind the folks at Mix that I once called an experience there “absolutely horrible” just a few hours before a press dinner there is not. Yet that’s what happened yesterday when The Times piece went online shortly before I was set to dine at Mix.
To clarify, I had a bad experience at Mix many, many years ago, and have been holding a grudge ever since. Because of that, in both the 2011 and 2012 editions of my book, I vetoed its inclusion.
Since that time, Alain Ducasse has changed chefs a few times, and his staff have had me back in an effort to change my opinion. I wrote about a meal there last December in this blog entry, and was scheduled to return yesterday to sample a new menu when the Times piece ran.
Last night’s meal was a little awkward, but the staff were welcoming and it was great trying the new food. A big “thank you” to everyone for their hospitality. Here are some pictures.
