Chef Changes At The Mina Group

on

UPDATED 6/17 — Sven Mede has contacted me with a bit more information on his departure from American Fish.  He reports that he’s accepted a corporate chef position with EDC Hotels in Santa Monica, and writes “I’m very excited.”

It can be tough to keep track of chefs in this town without a scorecard.  The latest shakeup comes from The Mina Group.

A company representative  has confirmed that Sven Mede will be leaving Aria’s American Fish.  To replace him, Michael Mina has tapped Josh Crain, who currently heads the kitchen at Nobhill Tavern in The MGM Grand.

Mede has reportedly accepted a new position outside of The Mina Group, but so far there are no details on that, or on who will be replacing Crain.

Mede is an amazing chef who helped land American Fish a spot in my book Eating Las Vegas: The 50 Essential Restaurants two years in a row.  Crain is also an extraordinary talent.  I’ve had quite a few amazing meals at Nobhill Tavern over the years, and had an incredible time spending several days in the kitchen with him and  his staff to write an article for Luxury LV. I wish them both the best of luck in their new gigs.  And with Mina’s amazing team of chefs, I have no doubt  Nobhill will  be left in good hands.
