Entertaining At Comme Ça
on
With so many great restaurants in town, it’s always tough to decide where to dine with out-of-town friends when they only have a few days in Las Vegas. What do they like? And just how far out of their comfort zone will I be able to persuade them to go?
When my friend Vinny Marino was visiting last week, I thought long and hard before suggesting Comme Ça. In the end, I thought the Cosmopolitan’s French bistro was a perfect fit. Sure, I knew Vinny wasn’t going to dig into a plateful of off-the-menu brains or testicles (which I suggested). But I knew he’d dig the perfect execution of simple French classics with Brian Howard’s signature twists. We ordered a pair of items — I wanted to try the Wellington, Vinny wanted the safety of chicken – and told Howard to avoid the offal. But other than that, our party of three put ourselves in the chef’s capable hands, and let him select most of our meal. As best I could tell, VInny enjoyed just about everything. As always, so did I.
